Of course, when you go to Berlin, you have to see The Wall. There are a few bits left standing round the city, and we found a very good museum explaining all about its history. This is one of the exhibits, commemorating some of the people who lost their lives trying to escape from East to West. I still find it very amazing to think how recent all this was.

But one thing that is very confusing is trying to work out whether you are in west or east Berlin at any given point, because the Wall took a rather circumnavigatious route (I don't think that's a real word but it'll have to do). Apparently, the green men on the pelican crossings give a clue - in one sector the green men have helmets, in the other they don't, but we could never work out which was which. Now, that would've made a better blip...
