Flower fly
I call them hoverflies, others call them bees (wrongly) and Wiki tells me they can be called 'flower flies'. Clearly this one fancies itself as the latter anyway.
We went to buy some vegetables from a couple who look after an old walled garden up the road from my mum's - and beheld a few acres of beautifully kept orchards, vegetable rows and fruit bushes. Amongst all this was an eye blinding, hallucinogenic array of chrysanthemums. I hate them, personally, but they are colourful and attract a lot of pollinators, so good for the garden.
In other Scottish highlights: buzzards; pheasants; salmon; the Selkirk bannock; heather; a walk through beech woods; a loch; mushrooms (including the poisonous hairy milk cap, or something).
