Happy Birthday - 1 Today

Today is Kerr's 1st birthday. How quickly has the last year gone?!

We've had a lovely lovely day. Kerrsdaddy took the day off work. We got up and helped Kerr open some presents and cards, then headed off to Edinburgh Zoo. The sun was shining and Kerr could not believe his eyes at all the animals. His favourites were the monkeys (all varieties!) and the penguins. We watched the penguin parade which was very cute. Around 10 penguins took part in it today - it is voluntary participation, so most of them couldn't be bothered, lol!

This photo was taken at Gran and Grandpa's house on the way home from the zoo. (They're in the midst of decorating, hence the weird looking wall). We took his birthday cake with us and all sang Happy Birthday to him. He particularly loved picking the icing off the cake before eating the sponge :-)

Kerr received some fabulous gifts for his birthday. His main gift from us was a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe car, which he loves!! However, he needs to learn to use the door to get in and out, not dive bomb out the windows! Gran and Grandpa gave him a Fisher Price Little People Garage which looks fab (we have yet to build it). Other gifts include toy cars, Joules fleecy hoodie, Aquadoodle, gift vouchers, In The Night Garden Mega Bloks playset, Thomas the Tank Engine gilet, books, jigsaw. He is a very lucky boy, and we now have to rearrange all his toys and put away some of the baby ones to make room for some of the new things, very exciting job for tomorrow!

We are having a family party on Saturday, so he will see Granny Marian and Grandad Bob, along with all his cousins and Aunts and Uncles then. Should be a busy and fun filled day!

Monthly progress

This month, the main changes we have seen in Kerr have been in his vocabulary. His current 'words' which we can understand are:

Mum/Mama - Mummy
Dada / Dad - Dad
Dudge - Fudge (he used to say Udge, but now says Dudge)
Oops - oops
Up - up
Assss - sock
Up - Upsy Daisy
Esss - yes

He has also learned to clap his hands in the past month, and now points at lots of things and can point out family members in photos (if he's in the right mood).
He is still cruising along furniture, but now stands unaided for short periods and occasionally moves from one piece of furniture to the next without holding on.
