Enrique of 'Ria del Barbanza'...
...or 'Enrique's Bar', as we call it! We go there a lot mostly for a morning coffee on his sunlit terrace but sometimes lunch when Enrique will personally prepare the best seafood dishes you can imagine, as only a Galician can; tellerines, almejas, mejillones, chocos, pescadito frito, chiperones fritos, y pulpo a la Gallega to name but a few. He is perhaps the most characterful bar keeper I've ever met always calling out to people on the street as they walk past, poking good humoured fun at all his customers and sharing strong views on evey subject under the sun. He is never better than when cursing the heat of Barcelona and comparing it to his sweet, fresh, wet homeland of Galicia (all Galicians are like this, is that not right Frank Nuo !)
Enrique has seen the world as a former merchant seaman and his passion is cycling - he has an encylopaedic knowledge of all things relating to the Tour de France, Gira di Italia and La Vuelta de Espana and if a client turns up with a new bike, Enrique is off on it 'around the block' with his apron flying to try it out and give a sometimes damning verdict to the proud but crestfallen owner!
