How strange.

Several errands to be done today, including a visit to the ticket office at Waverley to change a seat reservation on a train for Thursday. I had already tried to get the necessary information about what exactly they're classing as an off-peak journey at the moment from both the office in Newcastle station and Virgin Trains online. Fortunately the man who helped me at Waverley was far cleverer and even more devious than the people who dreamed up the various regulations. He came up triumphantly with a result that involved only a very modest outlay for me and having to change from carriage C to carriage D (staying on the same train) at Crewe. (Apparently Watford and Milton Keynes are counted as 'London' some of the time, for the purposes of extracting maximum moolah from the travelling public). You couldn't make it up.......

Posted Hal's shawl off and ordered a wreath for faither-in-law. On my way home I was surprised to see that the rowan trees by the nursery have scarcely any berries on at all. They had loads last year, but seem to have concentrated on growing leaves this year. Other trees nearby are laden with berries. How strange. (But then I often find myself thinking that.)
