Rainbow

St Stephen's Green, Dublin

We don't seem to get days of darkness and relentless rain in Ireland nearly as much as I remember we did in my childhood. Quite possibly that is a false memory of mine, and the image of dismal and wet days is a kind of quick code my mind uses to reference my childhood. I'll leave that to my therapist. In any case, yesterday was truly a dismal and wet day from start to finish, and it seemed like a sign of the new season, just in case anyone was holding out hope of an Indian summer. Today, however, was much better - until it broke in the afternoon and gave us a perfectly dichotomised sky: brilliant sunshine on one side and deep gloom on the other. Hence the rainbow.
