the halfpenny

1971 - 1984

i just found my tiny little tin with a small collection of halfpennies inside it...gone are the days of a loaf of bread costing fiftytwoandahalfpee...i can't believe they have been gone for so long...led me to checking out how long 20ps had been around for and £1 coins- 82-84 was an eventful time for the mint with 20ps being introduced in 1982 and pound coins in '83...i feel well-equipped for a pub quiz question on the subject now...
p.s. the bigger 5ps were better.
