"For every Beauty"
Nestled among the cobbled streets of St Ives between the art galleries and pasty pedlars is the incongruous " Russian Shop" Although I have peered in the window on a number of occasions I had never been in. On this occasion it was the lure of the teal green scarf covered in folksy, pink roses hanging near the door that got me through the door . V, odd choice for Miss Monochrome. The shop is owned by a friendly Scottish gent whose Russian wife was away in the Motherland buying stock. They are normally to be found in their main shop in Edinburgh....handy for Cornwall! Once I had tried on the military hats and examined the authentic KGB watches ( that needed a little jiggle to work) I spotted this kitsch, tableau in the corner. How marvellous! How different from the tedious modern interiors of the Elle Decoration generation. I am now eyeing up my Farrow and Ball off-white interior planning a little Babushka make-over. :-)
"For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. ( Russian Proverb)
