Car boot
Car boot sales are what British people do instead of yard sales* so we don't have to have strangers rooting around our homes.
This is the long-running car boot at Princess May Primary School in London N16. It takes places at the same time as a weekly pentecostal service inside the school, so you can always hear the pastor's sermon over the haggling and gossiping.
It has a lovely atmosphere, with a real cross section of the local community coming out. I visit every so often to hunt for cheap picture frames. Today was a good day. I don't know how much this woman wanted for the handsome picnic set, though.
Big bargains
* yard sales are what Americans do because their cars have trunks, not boots. Obviously.
