New Involuntary SKy Light

This is one of many areas of damage to our house from an early morning earthquake. We had a pretty scary time as we have a large two storied house which in places seemed to disintegrate around us as we were struggling to escape in the dark and moving floors covered in debris and glass etc. Not an easy experience and our kids are still a bit shell shocked. One of them sleeping at another property last night and insisting on sleeping under their kitchen table, even though they are outside the damage zone. We are very cautious about the integrity of the remaining structure and will have to wait our turn with many others for structural engineers to come and do an assessment. We feel lucky compared to photos of similar houses to ours, suffering worse damage.
