Coyote in The Villas

On our bike ride this morning, when pedaling through the Villas, we encountered this lady.

She was in the middle of the street, gobbling something down. We stopped and I scrambled for my camera. She continued with her meal. We couldn't see clearly the menu but it was maybe a rabbit, a mouse, or a Gambel's Quail.

The Villas is a section of our development consisting of duplexes, each with a double garage. The garages front the street and the buildings are close together, giving the effect of a narrow street lined with garages.

When finishing her meal this coyote calmly strode toward us but angled toward the nearby garage doors. This photo shows her cutting across a driveway.

We were transfixed. She passed only 30 to 40 feet away from us, but we were monitored from the corner of her eye.
