Extraordinary
Earthquake early this morning! A very very scary experience and although we were very shaken, we are fine and we have been so very fortunate not to suffer any real damage.
When it happened we couldn't imagine what the outcome was going to be. The strength of it and its duration was worse than I have ever experienced before and have no wish to go through again. the continuing aftershocks have been severe enough and have been fairly constant throughout the day.
This photo show that a vase had tipped over, the water and the flowers landed on the tiles, but the vase miraculously stayed on the table!!
We lost a couple of small vases in a cupboard and we had a microwave fall off the boxes on the wall of the garage and it crashed through the rear window of our car. No other obvious damage at this stage.
The power has now come back on.
The central city requires a huge clean up job and there are so many homes and buildings with damage I imagine it will take some considerable time to get back to normal.
On the side, what a change in the weather! It has been the most perfect sunny and warm spring day.
