Room with a View

This is the entryway to Restaurant 16 in Trump Tower, downtown Chicago.

Ten days after surgery I decided to go downtown to see the Tall Ships. They come into Chicago once a year to Navy Pier and I had planned the trip long before I planned the surgery. I had never seen the Tall Ships in person.

They were to parade in to Navy Pier on Tuesday late afternoon. I planned to be there first thing Wednesday morning before the crowds of people. Though I didnt realize I would miss the best pictures of the full sails. Yes, I got some great pics...but as usual my favorite of the day was not what I had planned.

My photographer friend and I went to Trump Tower for lunch. It was the most high class, polished place I've ever eaten a salad. Not to mention...the most expensive place. (The food was well worth it.)

We were a little out of place in this highly proper restaurant. We had just spent the day out in the hot sun, in shorts and tshirts. We trudged in, carrying our camera equipment and backpacks and probably smelling like...well...you get the picture. The good news is...they will take your money no matter how you are dressed!

Anyway, to make this picture more special...
Chicago has a contest open to everyone to submit photos of the local area to be published in a coffee table book. I submitted a few pics earlier in the contest, then last week I submitted this one for the heck of it.

Yesterday, this photo was featured on the Chicago evening news. (Yes, on TV with an estimated 4.5 million viewers!) I was so surprised!
My 10 seconds of fame was very cool!
