Rock Scallop
This is a rock scallop that I got while diving of an oil platform "Henry" in the Santa Barbara channel. It was in the early 90's at about 40- 60ft down. As you can see there are a number of other shellfish growing on it like oysters, barnacles, muscles and a lot of other things. Most of them have fallen off over the years and this is what remains. Because of a very few people had access to oil platforms these ones were larger than most. This one here is approx. 7 inches in diameter and the meat was about 2 inches. You couldn't eat too many of them as they were too rich in taste but very delicious all the same.
