College Fair

Today was the college fair (and also the grand opening of the new Student Center, but because of the fire and whatnot, lots of things were canceled/moved around, so there wasn't that much of a hullabaloo about it, except for some promotions around some of the restaurants on campus).

It was inside for the first time ever, I think. I liked it inside. I immediately found my destination: The Disney College Program. The lady, Sarah, was really nice. She's the one talking in the picture. As you can see, the other lady is smiling. That is the Disney difference you see.

I got a pen and some informational stuff. Then I went to the presentation and grabbed an application and a Mickey sticker even though I was pretty sure I couldn't do the web-based interview and the scheduling of a telephone interview...

First she asked a question, "Who can name a ride at Disney's California Adventure?" And I was the first to raise my hand and I said "Grizzly River Run" and got a little plasticine Mickey figure as a prize =)

Then we watched a promotional video which was kind of cheesily edited, but I still got chills from watching it. Afterwards, she went through the PowerPoint of the college program and for some reason I was smiling the whole time. It made me extremely giddy and excited. For instance, one of the perks of the college program is that you get to walk in Walt's apartment and only 1% of cast members have ever seen it! Also, you build networks. Sarah said that she once was in the college program but it led to her being in Human Resources and then now her stint as a college program advisor. That was just some of what was said, but yeah. I asked her afterwards a few questions and she asked me if I just wanted to schedule the interview and do the web-based part and then use that 2-3 weeks of time it takes to give us an answer to decide if I want to do it or not (because you can accept or decline the offer if you get accepted). I said that I really had to talk with my parents about it first, but she assured me that they would be back on campus all semester.

I was sad because my schedule would've worked perfectly this quarter because I have the requested 4 free days and I don't know how I would get that again, but then again, if I schedule wisely next year, maybe. Also I don't have a mode of transportation, and the OCTA takes 2 hours to get to Disneyland from UCI. Oh well, it's probably good that I don't get a job my first year. I am getting really involved on campus, so...

That's it! Oh and there was 190 vendors at the college fair, but mostly they were talking to junior, senior, and grads.

P.S. I don't know why the picture quality is so poor. It won't let me upload pictures from my Nikon SLR without resizing >=(
