1st day
Today was my son's first day of Kindergarten, and it was a big day indeed. We got up early (but not early enough apparently) and rushed about trying to remember everything we need to do. Obviously it will take us some time to develop a routine, but it will definitely be easier tomorrow when it's just me and my boy.
We managed to get their just in time, and I was glad to have the Land Rover so I could park on top of the curb (no space or time left). He was so excited to get to school. There was a bit of chaos because in the last 8 years the school has been open, it has never rained on the first day. So their usual plans were disturbed, and we ended up assembling in the gymnasium.
After a short bit of song, drumming and introductions, we headed back his class for a bit. Parents were invited to stay just as long as the circle time but then had to be on their way. I watched my son and am so proud of him for how good he was. As you can see in this photo, his papa was also very proud of him.
Walking away and driving back to town was so strange. We took some time to pick up groceries and get an oil change, and then our little one started asking "Where's bhaiya?" over and over. It was so strange to not have him by our side. I often caught myself looking around for him as if he were missing.
I had forgotten to eat, so I developed an incredible migraine. We rushed home so I could take some medicine, but it was just too late. I was a mess the rest of the day and am glad it is nearly time for bed.
Anyways, the photo on the left is my son just after putting his jacket in his locker and getting ready to meet his teacher again. The photo on the right is my youngest in the arms of my husband both watching with pride.
