Finally a Smile

Today is my son's 9th birthday! He is away on a river trip with his dad. In his absence, I tenderly went through an old box full of his baby things. I came across "Tucker," a little green turtle, and a journal I was keeping at the time. Here noted is the day my son first smiled - October 10th, 2001 - this was a momentous occasion, considering he had colic and cried for the entire first month of his life. With the help of our little green friend, my sweet son flashed a gummy grin my way. It was a beautiful moment I will never forget.
