Technology
Here we have the insides of my brand new home computer. Why you ask is it open, what am I doing to it ...?
Well, for the past several years I have been running a computer as our "TV" . Using software such as GBPVR (or you could use Microsoft Media Centre) we watch and record all our TV on our computer. Why? Well, we can get an EPFG (Electronic Programming Guide), all recordings are saved to hard disk, we can run our music thru it etc. They are great systems, just challenging to setup, or in NZ anyway as they aren't quite "legal" yet.
So, with our current machine getting near the end of its life, I decided recently to upgrade it to the latest and greatest and use the new Vista Home Premium. I was expecting a headache, but it's come sooner than I expected, in fact a full 2 minutes after opening the box. I ordered a "slim" machine, as it will be in our living room and the less like a computer the better, but of course the required expansion cards need to be low profile to fit in the machine.
So here I am, web surfing trying to find a low profile, dual tuner TV card. Might be a long night looking at these wires I fear.
And if you are a bloke, do you have a room full of abandoned technology, or is just me ;-)
