Back to school...

Today, September 1st, is the day schools in Belgium start again. So Abbie and Pippa now know which class room they're in. Pippa, oh joy, is now in a class of 15. Which is going to be a huge difference to the 31 (even 32 at one point) pupils in the class last year.

Of course there are the classic back to school photos to be taken. However, today the art academy has also started back up again. So I thought there might be some more interesting shots to be taken there.

Abbie and Pippa go to the Academie Berchem every Wednesday afternoon and work on various different visual art projects. They will do drawing, painting, working with clay, wood, gypsum, etc. They do some really great stuff. For example, they decorated the local library during the "kinderboekenweek" (week of the children's books) based on the Minpins story of Roald Dahl.

Here you see Abbie working on the light table. They have started a project where they are going to turn the class room into a tiled palace. The palace is going to be tiled with self designed paper 'tiles'. You can see Pippa sitting looking at some of the designs here.
