On Ridiculous Questions

First day of spring.
Still raining.
Was surprised to hear that, despite it seeming like an incredibly wet, cold winter*, this winter has actually been perfectly average on both fronts.
Turns out it's the coldest, wettest winter in over ten years.
Just so happens that the last ten years have been unusually mild and dry.
So... thinking back... probably about the time of the gas crisis** when it was last this miserable...
I should be grateful the dams are filling, shouldn't I?
And grateful I have warm socks.
And a blanket.
And a roof.

You can bet that in a few months time I'll be whinging about the heat.

Booking my tickets to the US tonight...


*not that I've complained about it at all...
**a fortnight in the middle of winter when the entire state had no gas and therefore no hot water.
