Almost Full Moon With Hieroglyph

Just think of all the spare time that has flown

Straight into nothingness by being filled
With forks and faces, rather than repaid
Under a lamp, hearing the noise of wind,
And looking out to see the moon thinned
To an air-sharpened blade.

from 'Vers de Societe' by Philip Larkin

'Moon!' you cry suddenly, 'Moon! Moon!'

The moon has stepped back like an artist gazing amazed at a work
That points at him amazed.

from 'Full Moon and Little Frieda' by Ted Hughes

...steadily sounding the sharp
silence of the moon's unbeaten gong...

from 'Anchors' (in my first collection, AIRBORNE)

Another beautifully clear Autumn day and evening. The (Harvest?) moon was that delicate yellow, like sour milk. I had intended to just take a quick drive, a half hour or so, and get some good contrasty background. But I went a bit moonmad, leaving my wife to pick up the wean and get him ready for his bath. I got so engrossed I forgot to pick up the messages.

Here's another one (and some streetlights, my other obsession):
