Where do kids go on a Tuesday afternoon?*
So we are back in Blighty and it is officially a little nippy. Though I was delighted to see from the blue sky this morning that my attempts to pack some sunshine were successful.
After a fairly busy day yesterday mainly spent packing, tidying, cleaning and travelling and a very late arrival home I'm feeling a little jaded today and very ready for an early night.
Still, managed to have a successful shopping expedition to buy school shoes and a new frock for my anniversary dinner on Thursday. Reward was lunch at Yo Sushi and watching Toy Story 3. Kids had already seen it with Grandma but indulged me with a second viewing. Am proud to say I only really cried once, though there was a definite welling too.
Came home to face the mountain of post only to be thrown into total panic by a very aggressive letter from HMRC demanding a large sum of money by menace. Phoned them up to attempt the prevention of our "assets being seized and sold at public auction", which we would have the honour of paying for. Got precisely nowhere so put the phone down and burst into tears of fury and frustration. Carl stepped into hero mode when he got home and, after approximately 45mins on the phone (mostly on hold of course) ascertained that actually they owed us the amount of money they were demanding!! If I don't get a very grovelly letter of apology with the reimbursement I am very tempted to contact Watchdog. I imagine if I had been intimidated into handing over the cash through their scare tactics they would never have realised their error and paid the money back. Gggggrrrrrr!!!!!!
Rant over.
Best get some sleep so I can face whatever tomorrow has in store, especially as to have to chase the bank about missing bank card and a store about some undelivered items. Oh administrative joys.
At some point in the near-ish future I plan to fill in the gaps from August. Hopefully at leisure so I can keep it lingering a little longer.
It is nice to be back here though and I got a real tingle when we flew down the river last night and saw the lights of London below.
