200th blip
Hanging from wires beside our front door are three strings of Holy or holey stones.
They were gathered by Bill's sister Helen from Dunwich beach in Suffolk where she lived for many years before returning home to Scotland.
Locally known as Hag Stones or Holy Stones, these naturally perforated flint stones or polished pebbles were often found along the East coast of Suffolk washed up by the passing tides or disturbed by the plough in fields.
In other parts of the British Isles these stones were also referred as Witch Stones, Fairy Stones and Eye Stones.
In bygone days when superstition played a part in everyone's lives. It was common to see these stone baubles hanging above the doors of people's houses, for Hag stones were believed by some to have protective properties from the powerful effects of evil.
Bill created the beach effect on our grass by using a bag of sand and a sheet of ply wood!!!
All that was missing was his bucket and spade!
It seems a long way away from our first blip
