If you have been playing with manual lenses from an old film Nikon then put on an autofocus lens make sure autofocus is turned on.

Had a lovely couple of hours in Ramsbottom today, so much so we hatched a plan that we are going to live there after the eldest finishes at Uni... the fact it has a chocolate cafe also helped :)
