Wasteland
Took this photograph today between outbursts of rain on the causeway near Holy Island and Lindisfarne.
It reminded me a little of a song by 'The Mission' hence the picture name 'Wasteland' and I felt I had to process this as an HDR picture to accentuate the clouds and just how windy it was (I actually had trouble standing up straight to take this picture).
Heaven and Hell, I know them well
But I haven't yet made my choice
I'm feeling dead 'cause I'm shouting loud
And NO ONE can hear my voice
Walking the tightwire, can't look down
Strung out high, above you all
Faithful wind blows through this land
Howls my name, Hell is my fall.
Canon EOS 40D with Sigma 24 - 135 F2.8 shot at 26mm. 1/125 sec ~ F13.0 ~ ISO 100 ~ Evaluative metering. Photograph copied twice, one picture +4 stops and one picture -4 stops and then run through Photomatix using my own personal settings.
Imported into Photoshop CS5 and boosted contrast to 85, reduced vibrance to -60, altered curves, reduced noise using Noise Ninja, reduced image to 800 on longest edge, reduced noise again, boosted contrast again and sharpened.
