Leading Edge
From a WWII era exhibit today at the Warhawk Air Museum where I'm the unofficial official photographer. This is one of a few yearly events that the museum brings in warbirds for display and to fly around. This event, B-25 Days, showcases a Mitchel B-25J bomber. This photo is of the leading edge of the wing of a T6G Texan. Other planes there were a Douglass Skyraider, T28 Trojan, P40E Kittyhawk and TM2 Wildcat. Presentations were given by Bob Cardin and Steve Hinton, the project manager and pilot of the Glacier Girl recovery from the Lost Squadron. Glacier Girl is a P-38 dug from 268 feet of ice in Greenland and is among several planes that landed more or less safely on the glacier during WWII after getting off course in bad weather. It cost approximately $6 million (US) to raise the P-38 and 12 years to restore her to flying condition.
