A day for celebration

Today the lovely Nikki and Richard came over for the evening, and we took the opportunity to celebrate.

This week, Nikki has become a fully qualified chartered accountant. She has achieved this through sheer hard work and determination. She is one of the brightest and most driven people I have ever met, and I never doubted for a second that she would succeed in whatever she set her mind to. I could not be more proud of her.

Today, my friend Kitty gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. For the last four years of our friendship, on or the other of us has been pregnant - now we have finished having children we can finally go out for a drink together!! Kitty's had a rough time of it during this pregnancy, so am pleased that this is over for her, and she can look forward to the next exciting chapter of her life. Lainey is a lucky girl to be born into such a wonderful family.

With such a week of good news for two of my best friends, I did what any good friend should do - I used them as an excellent excuse to get drunk!
