disturbing eyes
Something I have never seen till today, the hexagonal parts of a wasps eyes!
Sorry if this is a bit gross, but yesterday I was called into the kitchen to terminate a yellow jacket wasp (we have a bad population of these in NZ and they kill
the native bees and honey bees that Earth needs to pollinate all living plants and trees, so the wasps are a major pest)
I used a cup to get it but mostly missed and only trapped the back part. Upon being handed the sink scrubbing brush I used the handle to take it out, again my aim was off and i only managed to knock its head off. Yes I know disgusting. Thats what my wife said too. Anyhow nobody wanted to pick it up, so it was left.
Today I noticed the head on the window shelf while I was doing the dishes and wondered if I could see the eyes up close.
I got a 2x multiplier lens an that helped a little but not enough. Then I remembered reading about a fellow blipper who reverses his 50mm to get super closeups.
That worked great, the kids were amazed at how much hair was on the head.
I then decided to take a pic, I tried the macro lens on the camera and then held the 50mm backwards on the end of the macro! SUPER MACRO
Results above.
