Country Fair

What a great time everyone had at the local country fair today. It was the highlight of the summer for many children, I am sure. I stood beside this round-a-bout ride and kept randomly snapping my camera as the happy faces swung by me. There were many good photos and, of course, it was hard to choose just one. The outstretched arms in this one appealed to me.

The weather has cooled down a bit and now it is delightfully warm during the day, with a woolen blanket required at night. This is my kind of temperature profile. My vegetables are maturing well (those that decided to perform for me, anyway), and late summer plantings of lettuce and spinach are underway. There has been the occasional deer in the garden, and i have lost a few plants to them. Oh well.

We had rain the other day, and it was such a relief after the weeks of unrelenting heat. I think we will regularly have bouts of rain from now on, into the fall months.
