Harvest Has Begun

These are peas pouring from the auger of the grain tank into a huge trailer and then augered from there into a steel bin. My Dad remarked today that the tank holds as much as one of the old wooden granaries that he used to use...about 1700 cubic feet maybe? It empties out of this tank and into the bin in about twenty seconds.

I spent today here at the family farm with my sisters, my Dad and my daughter making our family's favourite relish, Alice's Thousand Island Pickle. Forty-five pints of it divided between five households. Mmm, what a feeling of accomplishment!
