Right place, right time, perhaps. But her iconic photos of the Beatles in Hamburg will always be classics. She has a retrospective exhibition at the Victoria Gallery until 29 January 2011 - so there's no excuse not to get down and see her work.

She gave a fascinating talk tonight about how she met the Beatles; got to photograph them; and fell in love with Stuart Sutcliffe. Her photographic career was criminally short - she worked from about 1960 until 1967 when she gave up - having had the same crisis of confidence that hits most creatives. She thought she wasn't good enough. Its a real shame she couldn't keep going. Its a small body of work she produced in those 7 years, but its a stunning one.

She didn't look too bad back in the day. I think she looks pretty cool now as well.
