A week at Rhiw Goch: Blanche crossing Cei Mawr
The Thursday view out of the "office window" of Rhiw Goch Signal Box on the Ffestiniog Railway.
1893 Hunslet locomotive - Blanche - with 11:00 service to Blaenau Ffestiniog from Porthmadog crossing Cei Mawr - the 60 foot high dry stone embankment.
Blanche was built for the Penrhyn Quarry to haul slate waggons from the quarries near Bethesda to Port Penrhyn (near Bangor). In the mid 1960's with the quarries contracting, the Ffestiniog Railway bought Blanche and her twin sister Linda for use on the expanding restored line.
