Viva la Conference

Went to my first scientific conference as a sales type person today. Was really interesting but there were definitely times where I felt a little sleazy. We're very much a 'no hard sell' 'make it whatever the client wants' type company but I do sometimes feel a bit door to door.... The company is very very successful and has a huge pool of clients who are huge in the scientific community - which is probably why it feels yucky to go out and solicit business from strangers.

However there were some nice freebies in the booths which has officially become my favourite part of the conference aspect of the job. Some companies are extremely creative with the stuff they sell and I came back with pens, lipbalms, notepads and a cup. But my favourites were a little stress ball shaped like a cell (it was a stem cell conference) and the above, a little vial filled with gummy bears. Yum!!
