300 from Trinidad

Today has been quite normal work day and no last minute clever ideas for my 300th blip, hence a history-blip from our trip to Trinidad (in Cuba). During the trip we sat in bus almost 700 kilometers but it still didn't feel like that long as there were three cities to visit, a lot to watch from the bus and some interesting stories from Nelson, our guide.

Trinidad has stuck to 1700-style in buildings because it has been without road for over 300 years (actually millions of years, but let's just talk from the point of view of non-indian inhabitants :-). The first road was built in 1950s but then the special nature of the city was realized and the buildings were not renewed.

The bell tower of Church Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco seen at the back is the symbol of the city. As are the colourful walls in front and not very flat stone streets. The city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988.

Around this blip is some photos from our summer trip to Berlin + Cuba, and more will come, so you're welcome to check out those too.
