Mule lambs
These young ladies have appeared in the field next to our house. They are this years lambs, all grown up and weaned from their mothers. They are learning to feed from a trough for the first time and next month will be washed, trimmed and generally spruced up for 'The Lamb Sales'. This a huge event in the local farming calendar where the years endeavours finally turn into cash. The girls are the result of crossing a Swaledale ewe with a Blue Faced Leicester and will be sold to becoming breeding ewes themselves, probably 'down South'.
