Une Porte, dans Fanjeaux

Fanjeaux in southwest France was once an ancient Roman "oppidum", then a medieval town of 3.000, with 3 rings of fortifications to include 14 towers. All of these structures were destroyed over time; in the 13th century Fanjeaux was the center of the wars over the doctrines of Catharism, considered heresy by the Roman Catholic Church. Today there are old buildings and walls of homes for about 900, a church erected on the remnants of a temple dedicated to Jupiter, and narrow streets. Plus lots of worn out entries and walls with beaucoup character. This door looks to have lived through several of these chapters of aged time - old doors and portals, entries into the mysteries of life - well today was one of the toughest choice days, but "Une Porte" won out.
