A day of two halfs
It was no hardship at all to remain inside working away today, since the weather was pretty miserable most of the time, with spells of torrential rain interspersed between bouts of dull gray cloudiness. And then, magic ...
By late afternoon the clouds blew away, the sun broke through, the streets dried as if by magic, and it was definitely time to take a break and get out in the fresh air for a good brisk walk.
Where better to go than to the Great South Wall, which reaches out into Dublin Bay and mirrors the Bull Wall on the north side (together they form the entrance into Dublin Port). To describe the walk as 'bracing' would be an under-statement. I had a really strong, buffeting wind behind me as I walked towards the lighthouse at the extreme tip, which obviously then meant that the wind was blowing directly into my face on the way back. It's just as well Derek's Olympus has such good image stablisation built in, because I could feel myself rocking in the wind each time I stopped for some blipping action. (This shot was taken at the Half Moon Swimming and Waterpolo Club, which is about two-thirds of the way along the wall.)
It was brilliant! Conditions improved all the time, and by 6.00 pm it was impossible to credit that there'd been such heavy rain only a few short hours before. I enjoyed every minute of the hour and a quarter or so that it took to walk to the end and back. Any cobwebs which might have been lingering in the old system after the weekend were well and truly blown away by the time I got back in the car and headed home again.
By the way, I've also back-blipped yesterday.
