Zoom Just One Kiss and then My Heart Went Boom
On the 23rd August 1986 a girl went out for a drink, with her friend who had just returned from her honeymoon.
During the course of the night, many pubs were visited and the threesome ended up in the disco. While the friend went to the toilet, the girl and her friend's new husband had a dance. The dance was interrupted by the friend slapping the new husband. The fight escalated and the friend and the new husband left, leaving the girl alone in the night club with two rounds of drinks to finish all by herself.
As she entertained herself at the bar with the odd acquaintance, a passing sailor caught her eye. And again. And Again. Yes. he was definitely passing her over and over again, which was strange given that there was no where really to be going to other than back and forward in front of her.
Eventually he plucked up the courage and came and spoke to her. A wee dance to Fat Larry's Band, and then a wee walk home. A sober date was arranged for the next night, and the mother accompanied the daughter. The Mother insisted it was because the daughter was going to be stood up, but the daughter knew that the Mother hoped the sailor was going to turn up with loads of friends!
He didn't stand her up, and he didn't bring friends. So it was just her and him. (the mother went home).
He liked that she bought her own rounds. He liked that she bet him money to guess which song he'd put on the juke box (and took the money off him). He liked that, that night she laughed at herself when she fell over the doorstep. She just liked!
Two weeks later, he wrote to say he was going to sea again and probably wouldn't be back for a bit. She went to Florida, and then Edinburgh. He got in touch.
Two weeks later, he moved in.
Twenty four years, three degree's, countless different jobs, five different houses, a marriage, two children, four cats, two rabbits and several goldfish later. He's still there.
Love You Si!
And then he kissed me!
