What did they want from him?

At first they'd questioned him - always asking the same questions: who were The Sisterhood? How was he involved with them? Where was his grandmother?

Unlike his unofficial police interview, there was no violence, not even a threat of violence - though admittedly, being abducted and held in a damp underground cell wasn't exactly friendly.

Perhaps it was all the things that had happened to him lately, but Adam couldn't help feeling that they'd have to try harder than that if they wanted to intimidate him.

In the intervening time, they had tried - but he could tell it hadn't gone the way they'd planned. What exactly their plan was, however, he wasn't sure - though it seemed to involve hooking him up to some strange-looking electronic machine.

Why exactly, remained unanswered.

Pondering these questions, Adam felt himself succumbing to the boredom and drifting into heavy-eyed drowsiness...
