Nearly harvest-time
Went for a walk in search of butterflies this afternoon. It was hot and humid, and we didn't see as many butterflies as had been promised...
But I find the landscape at this spot quite interesting. It overlooks the site of an abandoned village, Clopton. There aren't any buildings to see but you can see (just about) where the main street once stood.
This is looking the other way from Clopton, up the hill, which is the edge of the Greensand Ridge. If you turn round 180 degrees you're looking across the valley towards the chalk slopes of Royston.
A lot of farmers will be having sleepless nights at the moment, as crops (wheat here) need to be gathered in but the weather forecast is pretty terrible for a good part of the week.
