This may be a Puffball, Lycoperdon perlatum. But then again it might not be. Funny things fungi. If it was, it would be "delicious, sliced thinly and fried" according to the book. I decided it looked better left where it was.

I had set out up the dale this morning with a hankering for blipping a stile. I got some sunny images of the surrounding hills, a Dragonfly, and another steam train, but no stile. But there will be another chance ...... because I did not thinly slice and fry the mushroom ..... I'll live to blip another day!
