Waiting for the congregation to spill out....

I stopped at the 13th century Up Marden Church this morning for a breather while out on my bike. Its a peaceful place, tucked away down a muddy lane, with views over the Downs, and today it was looking particularly lovely as there had been a wedding yesterday and the flowers were still adorning the porch and altar.

Wandering around the church was a welcome break from the long ride I was in preparation for the Bike for Books cycle on 4th September. I forced myself to take a hilly route (the downhills were such a reward!) and to add to the challenge the weather wasn't on my side... I was glad to get home!
