From the North

By Tawastian

Nothing gold can stay

I found some nice-looking tufted vetch (vicia cracca) growing in front of an abandoned barn. It was windy (and a bit cold) today and there was such grey clouds wandering in the sky all day long. That must mean that autumn is very near.

Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold
Her early leaf's a flower
But only so an hour
Then leaf subsides to leaf
So Eden sank to grief
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay
