Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

The Sweetness of Doing Nothing

I woke at approximately 4:30 this morning to hear the distant symphony of the ocean waves. I love that sound. The music took me right back to slumberland.

We had a casual morning, and due to the convenience of an apartment-size refrigerator and small microwave, enjoyed breakfast on the private deck of our motel room.

The weather in Laguna Beach today is just right. We walked to Shaw's Cove middle morning--beautiful there. The photos in the upper portion above are from there. Yes, if I had more control, I'd only use only the left frame, but then the rest of the story would not be illustrated.

Then we fixed lunch at our "place" (our cute little motel room) and caught the trolley to Art-A-Fair and then walked to my favorite place here in Laguna during this season of art--the grounds at the Pageant of the Masters . . . a peaceful lovely place. The food and beverage prices, however, are aligned with the rich--which we are not.

So we ordered an iced coffee and an iced tea; then we walked to and stopped-in at the Whole Foods Mkt to purchase tabouli, fixings for Ceasar salad, and broccoli & bell peppers.

After shopping we caught the trolley home to our temporary dwelling that we are enjoying immensely. It was not the summer trolley, but the year-round air-conditioned mini-bus, which took us through lots of residential neighborhoods.

Oh my! All the way to our drop-off, we lusted as we looked at the homes-- big, little, well-landscaped, and not so well--we'd just like to own something in a beach community in SoCal. As young adults we should have tuned-in to this need--we just thought it was impossible.

I'm glad that at some point I quit believing in impossible--otherwise I would have never enrolled in college as a 30-something adult.

I just need to disregard the "impossible" thought as far as living at the beach and believe that maybe, just maybe, it could happen.

This evening we'll most likely catch the free trolley to the Sawdust Festival to hear "The Girls" doing their music. At the moment, Mr. Fun is out in the waves at Shaw's Cove. He loved riding the surf when I met and married him, and he still does.

Thanks for reading this far. You're fabulous!
At just about 6:30 p.m., good night from Laguna Beach.
