Chaffinch

This youngster spends a lot of time waiting by the feeders, hoping that someone will come and feed him. Sadly, he seems to spend quite a lot of time alone. Nature can be very ruthless, I suppose.

Thanks for all the comments - it seems he is an adult who is not very well. We have now cleaned all the feeders, so if it was avian salmonella (or this news story from the BBC), hopefully we will have got rid of some of the contaminated dirt.
