Waiting for the mother ship

Someone at work had a bit of money to spare in their budget at the end of the year, so they thought it would be a great idea to re-carpet part of the library. Arrangements were made... the computers were unplugged so that the desks could be moved, crates arrived to put the books in, a team arrived and started to pack the books into the crates, but then it became apparent that there was no-one who could move the shelves once they were empty. The book packers said it wasn't their job, and there was no-one else available to do it. So now, the books have been put back on the shelves, the crates have been taken away and the computers are back on the desks. What a bloomin' waste of time and money. No wonder higher education is going to the dogs.
