Kingfisher Poo
Another birdwatching day today, this time at our local RSPB reserve Rye Meads. This kingfisher is on his third brood of the season and once the chicks are hatched he spends his time fishing and bringing his catch back to the nest. So if you want to see a kingfisher you just go to the kingfisher hide. We waited fifty minutes for him, but he then sat on the post nearest the hide and we got some great shots. Thought you might like the fun of this one.
Was feeling a bit inadequate today, there were lots of big lenses on show, a 500mm and a 600mm - mines is only 250mm. The kingfisher though took it in his stride, as he landed on his perch it sounded like an outbreak of machine gun fire, but no feathers were ruffled, in fact maybe he was just giving the photographers a wee message.
Later we also saw our second ever brown duck with a white spot near the bill and a pale line over the eye - prizes to those that identify it without going back three days in my journal.
