Saint Alphege

I walk passed this sad little chap every day, as he is mounted upon the wall of a run down and vacant cottage at the bottom of my road.
I believe that a local historian once lived in this property and that the figure was rescued from a local brewery when it closed down.
He is associated with Saint Alphege who was born in Weston Village and went on to become Abbot of Bath Abbey, was murdered by Vikings in 1012 and then canonized in 1078.
He is looking rather fragile so I hope some one rescues him soon.
