SHAG WITH FEATHERS

Interestingly I put the title "Shag with feathers" to remind me to tell you that the feathers of the shag are very much a compromise - They get wet and waterlogged when they are diving and yet they have to fly as well so consequently they dont spend too much time under water as they do get waterlogged - thats why we see them sunning themselves - they have to dry out ! Having said that they dive after their food for as deep as 100 meters (recorded)
