Getting into the water the hard way

Walking around the water sports centre today, we saw these people getting into the water. I didn't believe they would really do it, but there they went, plunging in at the deep end. The first one was successful, bobbed back to the surface and paddled away.
The second one was a little more hesitant, splashed in, and came up as two objects, man and boat!

Anyway - impressive stuff to watch!
